ATHENS, Ga. – Two more Commodores advanced to Sunday’s finals at the SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be broadcast on ESPN3.
In the 1500-meter race, Jordan White and Alexa Rogers qualified for the 12 person final on Sunday, which will be run at 1:30 p.m. CT. With a time of 4:26.45, White finished third in Heat 3 and automatically qualified for the finals. Rogers posted a time of 4:26.54 in the first heat and earned a spot in the finals for having one of the top three non-automatic qualifying times.
Kristen Findley also competed in the 1500-meter race, posing a time of 4:34.08. Findley improved on her personal best time by two seconds.
Earlier in the day, Brionne Williams finished ninth in the high jump competition with a final height of 5’7″. In the pole vault, Katherine Hendricks and Meagan Martin both cleared a height of 12’8″, and tied two other competitors, but finished ninth and 10th, respectively, due to number of attempts.
In the final event of the day, Allie Scalf finished ninth in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She posted a time of 10:46.25, just missing eighth place by .02 seconds.
In addition to the 1500-meter finals on Sunday, Vanderbilt will also compete in the 4×100 meter relay, the finals of the 800-meter race, and the 5000-meter race. Live results can be found here, and updates will be posted on Twitter @VandyXCTrack throughout the day.
