NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt Invitational, a collegiate event expected to attract a record number of athletes to Nashville, highlights three days of track and field competition on the campus.
The Vanderbilt Invitational is scheduled Friday and Saturday, April 20-21. The track and field activities start Thursday afternoon with the highly anticipated Great Eight Invitational for top Middle Tennessee prep athletes.

Commodore Head Coach Lori Shepard is excited about both meets, and expects a record turnout of participants at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
“The Vanderbilt Invitational will definitely attract a record number of entries,” Vanderbilt Head Coach Lori Shepard said. “With the weather cooperating, we expect more than 1,200 athletes competing. With lots of participants still looking to post NCAA regional qualifying standards, I think we’ll see superb competition.”
The Vanderbilt Invitational field includes athletes from more than 30 universities. Squads from two Southeastern Conference teams, Alabama and Tennessee, are expected to join a large Commodore women’s contingent at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Other nearby colleges represented among the 35 squads enters are Middle Tennessee, Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, Belmont, Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay and Fisk.
