Visit Tournament Central Including Live Scoring
AUBURN, Ala. – The Vanderbilt track and field team opens the postseason portion of its outdoor schedule this weekend as it travels to Auburn, Ala., for the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 15-18 at the Hutsell-Rosen Track in Auburn.
Competition commences Thursday at 2:30 p.m. (CT) with the women’s heptathlon 100m hurdles and continues through Sunday.
Traditionally one of the fastest meets in America, the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships features six teams ranked in the top 25 in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, including No. 2 LSU and No. 11 Arkansas.
The Commodores posted solid marks during the outdoor regular season, led by freshman Rita Jorgensen, who has posted regional qualifying times in the 800 and 1500 meters. Senior Valerie Kazmer also posted a regional qualifying mark in the 3000 meter steeplechase, with a time of 10:43.92.
Vanderbilt was last in action two weeks ago at the Mississippi Open in Oxford, Miss. Jorgensen and fellow freshman Kristabel Doebel-Hickok picked up victories. Jorgensen won the 800 meters, while Doebel-Hickok claimed the 5000 meters. Sophomore Cherice Robertson lowered her career best time in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 14.02 seconds.
