NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt track and field team closes out the regular season portion of its outdoor schedule on Saturday as it travels to Oxford, Miss., for the Ole Miss Invite. The one day event begins at 11:30 a.m. with the field events, while running events commence at 2 p.m.
“We’re hoping to fine tune some things before we go down to Auburn (for the SEC meet),” Vanderbilt track and field head coach D’Andre Hill said. “We haven’t had the best weather this outdoor season, so hopefully this weekend the weather will work out so we can get some work done on the track.”
The meet will give the Commodores one last chance to prepare for the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The conference meet is scheduled for May 15-18 in Auburn, Ala.
“This will be the last opportunity to work on a few things with our hurdle crew,” Hill added. “Also, the distance runners will be able to get on the track one last time before conference. We’ll have a week off to train and then head to Auburn.”
The Commodores were last in action at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The 4×100 relay team of Taylor Jackson, Lauryn Smith, Cherice Robertson and Amani Floyd turned in the top performance, recording the second-fastest time in school history with a mark of 1:42.20.
Results and a recap from the Ole Miss Invite will be available on the official Web site of Vanderbilt athletics, vucommodores.com.
