BATON ROUGE, La. – Sophomore Mallory Hitt recorded a third-place finish in the pentathlon at the LSU Combined Events held Thursday at the Carl Maddox Field House.
“She had a good performance,” assistant track and field coach Clark Humphreys said. “We still have room for improvement, which is good with SEC Indoors coming up. She did a real good job competing with the other girls.”
In preparation for the pentathlon at the SEC Indoor Championships, Hitt finished the event with 3,129, 52 points off her career best, which she attained last year at the SEC Indoor Championships.
Competing in her hometown, Hitt opened the event with a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, running the distance in 10 seconds. The sophomore finished the high jump in fourth place, clearing 5’1. In the third event of five, Hitt notched a fourth-place finish in the shot put, with a distance of 34’9. Hitt closed out the pentathlon with a fourth-place finish in the long jump (17’0) and a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters (2:40.96). Entering the final event in fifth place, Hitt jumped up two spots to finish in third.
Mississippi State’s LaQuinta Aaron finished the pentathlon in first place, recording 3,444 points, while Juzil Rudolph of Troy finished in second.
