WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Vanderbilt’s 4×1500 meter relay team finished second to conclude another successful outing for the distance squad.

The team of Jordan White, Alexa Rogers, Liz Anderson and Rita Jorgensen clocked in at 18:14.20, just one second off the school record set in 1994.

“While we missed our school record (18:13.46), I thought the women ran a really solid race, especially after doubling back from some hard distance races the day before,” said distance coach Steve Keith. “The 4×1500Rogers, Anderson, White, Jorgensen is a tough race and you really have to push yourself when the field gets stretched out. Jordan (4:34.8) ran well and handed off in the lead, and Alexa (4:37.0) hung tough with Michigan up until her last 200 meters.”

“Liz (4:37.4) ran well considering she was by herself, and still had the 5K from the night before in her legs,” said Keith. “Rita went for it, out in 67 seconds for her first 400 meters, and split 4:25.0 to finish off our team effort.”

“This was a great meet for our distance group and it’s been nice getting to race against some quality teams that we don’t see that often,” noted Keith. “We’ll be back next year and we’ll get that record!”

While the distance team was competing in Williamsburg, some of the Vanderbilt sprinters and jumpers were competing at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn.

Anna Carr Hawkins posted a season-best time of 12.10 seconds in the 100 meter dash, while Taylor Jackson clocked in at 12.30 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, AJckso clocked in at 24.84 seconds, with Hawkins just two-tenths of a second behind at 25.04 seconds.

Teegan Hill took two seconds off her time in the 400 meter dash from earlier in the season, posting a time of 57.18 seconds. In the 400 meter hurdles, Lacy Moore clocked a time of 1:06.43.

In the high jump, Brionne Williams took fifth place after clearing a height of 5’7″ (1.70m). Katherine Hendricks came in third place in the pole vault with a height of 11’7.75″ (3.55m). Meagen Martin also cleared 11’7.75″.

The Commodores return to action next weekend at the Spec Towns Invitational, hosted by the University of Georgia.
