Track Concludes Day Two of Texas Relays

April 2, 2009

AUSTIN, Texas – Mallory Hitt’s solid performance in the heptathlon was cut one event short Thursday after she sustained an injury throwing the javelin, forcing the Vanderbilt junior to remove herself from the final event’s competition. Hitt only threw twice in the javelin before being hampered with the injury.

“I thought Mallory posted good marks in her first heptathlon of the season considering the circumstances,” said assistant coach Clark Humphreys. “We have been very limited with our competition this season due to last week’s Yellow Jacket Invitational being cancelled due to weather. It’s unfortunate that she got injured during the javelin and was unable to run the 800 for the final event.”

In two events today, Hitt placed 15th and 16th in the javelin and long jump with marks of 86-04 and 16-07.25, respectively.

Vanderbilt’s sprint medley relay team will compete tomorrow evening at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Live stats of the Texas Relays are available by .
