Track competes at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Members of the Vanderbilt track team competed at the Colonial Relays on Friday, with three Commodores posting top-10 finishes.

In the 1500 meter run, Rita Jorgensen came in fifth place with a time of 4:26.63, while Jordan White clocked in at 4:39.82, good for 20th place. Alexa Rogers and Erin McManus posted times of 4:46.55 and 5:04.65, respectively.

“Rita had a very solid first 1500 meter race,” said distance coach Steve Keith. “She was racing in a deep, talented field today. She finished her last two laps in 71 and 68 seconds to pull into fifth place.”

In the 5K, the Commodores had three of the top 20 finishers, with freshman Liz Anderson leading the way. She finished in fifth place with a time of 16:37.21, followed by Louise Hannallah in 10th place (16:50.35) and Adrienne DiRaddo at 17th place (17:21.20). Megan Yohe clocked in at 18:15.32. Hannallah posted a personal best time.

“Liz, Louise and Adrienne had an excellent 5k,” said Keith. “Liz and Louise worked well together for two miles (10:44) and Liz was able to really finish things off. Adrienne ran a very smart and even paced race.”

Kristen Findley (2:19.83) and Kara Slavoski (2:27.40) competed in the 800 meter run.

Saturday’s schedule includes the distance medley relay and the 4×1500 relay.

Other members of the Vanderbilt track team are competing at the Tiger Classic on Saturday, hosted by Auburn University. Complete results from both meets will be available on vucommodores.com.
