AUSTIN, Texas – Vanderbilt junior Mallory Hitt currently sits in 17th place after four events of the women’s heptathlon at the first day of the Texas Relays. Hitt was the lone Commodore to compete Wednesday in Austin as the rest of the team will arrive in Austin tomorrow.
Hitt, a former St. Joseph’s Academy standout, has accumulated 2,636 points heading into tomorrow’s final three events of the heptathlon. The Baton Rouge, La., native is running in her first heptathlon of the 2009 outdoor season. Hitt looks to top her personal-best total of 4,560 points on Thursday.
