FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Vanderbilt women’s track team completed their final day at the Razorback Invitational.
Sophomore Anna Carr, who made it to the finals of the 60 Meter Dash, led the Commodore sprinters. Carr clocked a time of 7.84, which was good enough for sixth.
Sophomore Meagan Martin’s 10th place finish in the pole vault, clearing 11’5¾”, highlighted the day in the field events for VU. Martin’s pole vault height was a career high for the Lake Mary, Fla. native and is also good enough for third in school history.
“On Saturday, the vaulting crew made great strides in knocking down the school record. Morgan Toone and Meagan Martin had solid performances,” head coach D’Andre Hill noted. “We got off to a solid start on Friday with the women running well in the 200 Meter Dash and Mallory (Hitt) faired very well (in the pentathlon).
Freshman Morgan Toone cleared the same height, finishing 13th on the day. Katherine Hendricks and Alyson Hasty rounded out the Commodore effort, finishing 15th and 16th respectively.
“Morgan Toone and Meagan Martin showed huge improvement in the pole vault,” assistant coach, Clark Humphreys, echoed.
Vanderbilt is back on the road next weekend at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
