RALEIGH, N.C. — Three Vanderbilt men’s golfers travel to the Tar Heel State this weekend to compete at the Wolfpack Individual. Sophomores John Broderick and Ben Loomis, along with freshman Chase Nevins, will make the trip to Lonnie Poole Golf Club to compete in the individual tournament.
Tournament Format
The Wolfpack Individual is a 36-hole stroke-play tournament, where teams can play up to four individual golfers. There will be no team scoring. Each player will play one 18-hole round per day, with the first round getting underway Saturday, while the final round takes place Sunday.
Course Information
Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a 7,358-yard course that plays as a par 71.
The Field
Up to 72 individuals from 23 teams will compete at the Wolfpack Individual. Along with host North Carolina State, the field consists of players from Appalachian State, Auburn, Campbell, Charlotte, College of Charleston, Davidson, East Tennessee, Kent State, Liberty, Miami (OH), North Carolina, North Florida, Old Dominion, Purdue, Tennessee, UNC-Wilmington, VCU, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, William and Mary, and Wofford.
Vanderbilt’s Individuals
John Broderick, Ben Loomis, and Chase Nevins will represent the Commodores.
Loomis has competed in two events for Vanderbilt in the fall. He played in the MartinFed Invitational, placing eighth individually thanks to a 4-under total score. Loomis was also an integral part of the Vanderbilt victory across the pond last fall at the St Andrews Links Collegiate. The sophomore notched two 2-over 142 during stroke play before beating out UNC’s Hampton Roberts by one stroke in the head-to-head championship matchup against the Tar Heels.
Both Broderick and Nevins are entering their second events of the season, with their last outing taking place at the MartinFed Invitational in the fall. At the event, Broderick finished at 2-over 218 to finish in a tie for 24th. Nevins carded 15-over 231 at the 54-hole tournament to finish in 57th on the player leaderboard.
Tee Times
Broderick is set to tee off at 8:20 a.m. CT on hole No. 10. Loomis follows ten minutes later, and Nevins rounds out the group at 8:40 a.m. CT. All three are taking the course in groups with individuals from Tennessee and Campbell.
