Three Vanderbilt runners – seniors Jordan White and Alexa Rogers and sophomore Liz Anderson – earned National All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team in a given year, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the required athletic standards for the indoor or outdoor season. For the indoor season, the student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list. For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships, including preliminary rounds.
In December White, who is majoring in Medicine, Health and Society, became the first Commodore runner to race at the NCAA National Championship meet since 1997, finishing 112th out of 253 competitors. Anderson was recognized by her team as the Newcomer of the Year, while Rogers, a Human and Organizational Development major, was selected Most Valuable Runner by her teammates.
A total of 663 student-athletes nationwide qualified for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Nebraska led all schools with 19 All-Academic honorees.
