As collegiate summer leagues get started, 17 Commodores are participating in five different leagues with Patrick Raby wearing the red, white and blue for the Collegiate National Team.
Raby drew the start for Team USA in the squad’s first game of the summer last week, allowing one hit over three scoreless innings. The right-hander walked two and struck out two in Team USA’s 10-0 Catawba Valley Stars.
The Cape Cod League features five Dores this summer with Chandler Day, Stephen Scott and Ethan Paul suiting up for Orleans. For Day and Paul it’s their second turn on the Cape with the Firebirds while Scott is making his his Cape debut after earning Rookie of the Year honors in the New England Collegiate Baseball League last summer. Connor Kaiser is slated to be the shortstop for perennial power Yarmouth-Dennis. Kaiser is on the Cape this summer after being named the Defensive Player of the Year in the NECBL last summer. Julian Infante returns to the Cape with Brewster to round out the Vandy Boys’ five.
The NECBL features the most Commodores with eight in the league this summer. Pitchers Matt McGarry and Paxton Stover are tossing for North Adams and Upper Valley, respectively. Rising sophomores Jackson Gillis and Harrison Ray are teaming up for Sanford while Newport features three Dores in JJ Bleday, Ty Duvall and Drake Fellows. Alex Brewer is playing for Keene.
Three different collegiate summer leagues feature lone Commodores with Walker Grisanti in the California Collegiate league with Santa Barbara, Alonzo Jones in the Northwoods League with Green Bay and Kiambu Fentress with Martha’s Vineyard in the Futures League.
