Tennis Ends NCAA Singles Run

STANFORD, Calif — Commodores Amanda Fish, Taka Bertrand, and Ryan Preston ended their NCAA Singles run on Thursday, falling in the second round of the tournament.

The young ‘Dore representatives set new personal records in post-season play advancement. In 2005, Bertrand and Fish fell in the first round of the tournament, and 2006 marked Preston’s debut in the NCAA singles championship.

Results:
Commodore singles leader Amanda Fish fell to No. 11 Northwestern’s Cristelle Grier (6-2, 6-4).

SEC Player of the Year Taka Bertrand dropped her early match to No. 1 Stanford’s Celia Durkin (6-3, 6-3).

Commodore men’s team captain Ryan Preston fell to Notre Dame’s Sheeva Parbhu in three sets (4-6, 6-1, 6-4).
