BLOOMINGTON, Ind.–Vanderbilt senior Amanda Taylor of Richland, Wash., advanced to the fourth round at the 2007 ITA National Summer Championships on Sunday, defeating Anne McCarthy of Illinois. After winning their second-round match, the doubles team of Taylor and incoming freshman Katie Kilborn lost in the third round to Chisako Sugiyama and Whitney Taney from Michigan.
Taylor, the second seed in the women’s singles draw, claimed an easy victory for the second straight day, as she defeated McCarthy in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. She advances to the Round of 16 where she will face Northwestern’s Keri Robison, the No. 9 seed.
The duo of Taylor and Kilborn won their second-round match, defeating Carissa and Bianca Aboubakare 8-5. The Commodore pair was upset on Monday as they fell to Michigan’s Sugiyama and Taney 8-1.
