NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Due to its exemplary performance in the classroom in 2016-17, Vanderbilt women’s track & field earned several All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Senior pole vaulter Sarah Bell, senior distance runner Carmen Carlos and freshman pole vaulter Caleigh Loftsead garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic honors last season. The Commodores were also honored as one of 218 Division I women’s track & field programs to earn All-Academic recognition as a team.

On the field, Bell advanced to the NCAA Track & Field National Championships in Eugene, Ore. this past June and earned First Team All-America recognition following a top-eight finish.

To qualify for individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, student-athletes must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and meet at least one of two athletic standards:

– For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
