WINDERMERE, Fla. – Sophomore Hunter Stewart shot a one-under par, 71, to lead the Commodores up the team leaderboard in the second round of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla. Vanderbilt stands in ninth place as a team and has a total of 597 (303-294) heading into the final round on Tuesday.

Stewart’s 71 moved him into a tie for 28th on the individual leaderboard and has a total of 149 (78-71). Fellow sophomore Jordan Janico has the team’s best cumulative score after two rounds with a 147 (74-73) and is in a tie for 17th.

“We talked about last night about the opportunity we would have to clean up the small mistakes we made in round one,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “Guys responded well and remained resilient throughout the round.”

Other scores for the Commodores after two rounds include a 151 (74-77) for Ben Fogler, which ties him for 39th, Charlie Ewing a 152 (77-75, T-46), and Zack Jaworski a 156 (81-75, T-65).

“I want them to remain focused on doing their job,” said Limbaugh. “Obviously, Hunter really had it going early, then had a rough stretch in the middle, but stayed calm and played a really good round. JJ really hung in there and birdied two of his final three holes in very windy conditions.”

California leads the tournament by three strokes over Illinois with a 579 (284-295) total, and the Bears’ Michael Kim leads all individuals with a 139 (67-72).

The final round of the tournament concludes on Tuesday.
