Shawn Saylors
Sport Psychologist
Shawn Saylors joined Vanderbilt Athletics as a sport psychologist in November 2025.
He has prior training and experience working with a variety of clientele including both military and student-athletes providing performance enhancement skills, resiliency, leadership development, programming, and positive psychology interventions to individuals and teams in an effort to enable both personal and professional development.
Originally from Easley, South Carolina, Saylors earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Clemson, a master’s degree in sport and performance psychology from the University of Denver and a doctorate in counseling psychology from Springfield (Mass.) College. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of Cincinnati and postdoctoral fellowship in a private practice. Saylors is a certified mental performance consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
