Catherine Ruter joined Vanderbilt Athletics as a sports dietitian in August 2025, primarily working with the lacrosse, men’s and women’s tennis, and cross country and track and field programs.
She most recently served as assistant director of Olympic sports nutrition at Mississippi State during the 2024-25 season, assisting with the school’s women’s soccer, baseball, and men’s and women’s tennis teams. Ruter also was a nutrition intern with soccer and swimming and diving at Alabama in 2023-24.
Ruter received her bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Georgia in 2021, going on to earn a master’s degree in foods and nutrition from the school before the end of that year. She then went on to do her dietetic internship through the University of Houston.
The Athens, Georgia, native, is a registered dietitian through the Commission of Dietetic Registration and is also an active member of the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association.
