The Marvin File
Sarah Marvin was a letterwinner in basketball and track and field while prepping at Byron. The 2021 Nike Outdoor Nationals high school champion in the shot put, she was named the 2021 Kiwanis Student-Athlete of the Year and a finalist for the Detroit Athletic Club Michigan High School Athlete of the Year. Marvin is a two-time state champion in the shot put and discus, four-time conference champion and was the first Michigan high school female to exceed 50 feet in the shot put. At the Midwest Meet of Champions, she was named Field Athlete of the Meet. Off the throws field, she earned academic all-state recognition, National Honor Society membership and the position of student council president, all while graduating valedictorian of her class at Byron.
Personal
Sarah is the daughter of Theresa and Tim Marvin and has five siblings, Jessica, T.J., Becky, Jorge and David. Several of her family members competed in the throws in college. Her mother competed in the shot put and discus at Michigan. Sarah’s oldest sister, Jessica, throws hammer, weight, shot put and discus for Davenport, and her twin sister, Becky, competed for Ferris State in the shot put and discus.
