Hudson Johnson Season 2008-09
2008-09 Season: Competed in 29 rounds during 10 tournaments, missing only one appearance for the Commodores… Earned medalist honors for the second time in his collegiate career with a nine-under 133 at the two-day 2008 Hummingbird Intercollegiate in Cashiers, N.C…. Also earned a top-10 finish at the 2009 Reunion Intercollegiate in Mississippi… Finished 13th at the 2009 Seminole Intercollegiate as the Commodores earned the team championship.
2007-08 Season: Competed in 25 rounds during nine tournaments, missing out on only two appearances for VU… Overcame a seven-stroke deficit in the third round by shooting a nine-under 63 to earn medalist honors at the Kauai Collegiate Cup as Vanderbilt won its first tournament since 2003… Nine-under score tied for VU[apos]s lowest-ever 18-hole performance and broke the tournament scoring record for Wailua[apos]s championship tees… Finished in a tie for third place in the 117-player field at the New Year[apos]s Invitational (indiv.)… Also carded a Top 10 finish at the 2008 Furman Intercollegiate.
2006-07 Season: Competed in seven of 12 tournament during his freshman season… Made an immediate splash by posting a four-under 212 in his first tournament as a Commodore, the Carpet Capital Collegiate, to place in a tie for 11th… Shot his low three-round total of the season at the NCAA West Regional, a five-under 211… Counted all three scores at the NCAA Championships, including VU[apos]s low third round of one-over 71.
Amateur: Qualified for the 2009 United State Amateur by taking runner-up honors during a sectional event at the Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas… Also qualified for the 2008 United State Amateur, earning medalist honors at a qualifying event in Reunion, Miss…. Rolex Junior All-American in 2005… Won medalist honors at the AJGA Lawrence Hall Junior… Posted three Top-15 finishes in AJGA events… Won medalist honors at the 40th Spirit of America Classic in July 2007, by shooting a final-round three-under 68… With the win, earned an exemption into the Pearl River Resort Classic, an NGA Hooters Pro Golf Tour event, where he competed as an amateur and finished 25th in a field of 168 golfers.
High School: Four-year varsity starter for Longview… Advanced to the state championship event after earning medalist honors at the district tournament… Placed seventh in the 2005-06 5A State Championship after shooting a one-under 141.
Personal: William Hudson Johnson… Son of Buddy and Carol Woolley… Father played baseball at Baylor University… Has one older sister, Lauren Anne, who graduated from Ole Miss and currently works in Nashville… Majoring in Economics.
