The 2019 season is Joel Parker’s first year as a graduate assistant on Derek Mason’s Vanderbilt staff. He focuses on Commodore special teams, working with coordinator Devin “Fitz” Fitzsimmons. In 2018, he contributed as an special teams intern with Mason’s program.
Parker graduated from Auburn in 2017 after assisting the Tiger football team for four years as a manager and student assistant. He was involved with Auburn teams that played in the 2018 Peach Bowl, 2017 SEC Championship, 2017 Sugar Bowl and 2015 Outback Bowl.
A native of Franklin, Tennessee, Parker played at Battle Ground Academy under former Vanderbilt player Roc Batten.
Parker is working toward a Master’s of Education in Leadership and Organizational Development at Vanderbilt.
