Second half swoon sinks Vanderbilt

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma erased a 13-point first half deficit to down No. 24 Vanderbilt, 97-67, on Saturday afternoon in the Lloyd Noble Center.

Devin McGlockton scored 22 to lead Vanderbilt (16-5, 4-4 SEC) in the loss. Jason Edwards added 21 to join McGlockton as the only Dores in double figures.

Jeremiah Fears led four Sooners in double figures with 21 points. Jalon Moore added 19, Dayton Forsythe 14 and Duke Miles 11 to power Oklahoma’s massive second half.

Oklahoma (16-5, 3-5 SEC) reeled off a 23-0 run early in the second half, part of a larger 32-4 run for the Sooners which flipped an 11-point Vandy advantage into a 17-point deficit. The Sooners went on to score 61 points in the second 20 minutes while shooting 72.7 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from three in the half.

Oklahoma outrebounded Vanderbilt 39-24 and held a 21-6 advantage in fast break points. The Commodores committed 15 turnovers, their most in SEC play this season, while picking up just 11 assists. It’s only the second game this season Vandy has committed more turnovers than assists.

Vanderbilt returns to action Tuesday night at No. 5 Florida. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
