COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Vanderbilt track and field broke a school record and posted five marks ranking top 10 in school history with three scoring performances Thursday at the SEC Indoor Championships at R.A. “Murray” Fasken Indoor track.
Marta Sivina totaled 4,174 points in the pentathlon to PR and place fourth in the event. Her mark ranks second on the program all-time top 10 list. Sivina started her competition with a time of 8.46 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. In the high jump, she recorded a 1.75-meter clearance, surpassing her previous best mark by 0.09 meters (5 inches), to move to fifth in school history. Sivina recorded an 11.16-meter throw in the shot put and came 0.01 meters from her lifetime-best mark in the long jump, measuring 5.71 meters. To end the multi, she recorded an indoor PR of 2:17.03 in the 800 meters.
Freshman Devyn Parham also contributed to Commodore scoring in the pentathlon, placing seventh with a score of 3,963 points, a personal best and the No. 4 mark in school history. She clocked 8.48 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, then cleared 1.60 meters in the high jump. Parham threw 10.96 meters in the shot put, registered a 5.85-meter mark in the long jump and turned in a time of 2:21.00 in the 800 meters, PRing in all three events. Her long jump mark matches the fifth-ranked jump on Vanderbilt’s all-time top 10 list.
Tina Benzinger recorded an indoor personal best in the 200 meters, clocking 23.82 seconds, the No. 2 time in program history.
To end the evening, the distance medley relay squad consisting of Audrey Allman, Allyria McBride, Ellie Wolski and Julia Rosenberg broke the school record with a time of 11:13.61, which also earned a seventh-place finish.
The Commodores are in seventh place in the team standings with nine points. Arkansas leads the pack, followed by Oklahoma and LSU to round out the top three.
