WALNUT, Calif. – Members of the Vanderbilt track & field distance squad traveled to California this weekend to compete in the 53rd annual Mt. SAC Relays.
Allie Scalf opened the meet running in the 3000 meter steeplechase. She clocked a time of 10:54.02, a seven second personal record.
“We had two very solid efforts in the first day at Mt. SAC,” said distance coach Steve Keith. “Allie is still learning the steeplechase, but this was an excellent move forward for her. She will be the first to say that there is still room for improvement, but all in all, we are progressing nicely.”
Also competing on Thursday evening was Kristabel Doebel-Hickok in the 10K race. She posted a time of 35:52.72 in the open race.
“Kristabel showed great focus and some nice maturity,” noted Keith. “She was just a few seconds off her PR and school record.”
Racing on Friday will be Alex Rogers, Jordan White and Rita Jorgensen in the 1500 meters, and Louise Hannallah in the 5K on Friday evening. Complete meet results can be found on the Mt. SAC Relays website, and also by following the team on Twitter @VandyXCTrack.
