Sattelkau Surges on Day Two

Sophomore shoots 3-under-par

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Celina Sattlekau put together a remarkable round of golf Saturday and placed herself in prime position to make the cut at the NCAA Golf Championships at the Grayhawk Golf Club.

Starting the day 3-over-par and tied for 52nd overall, the Vandy sophomore carded four birdies – including three on the back nine – to finish with a 3-under-par 68. She’ll go into her final round Sunday tied for 11th overall.

Top 15 teams at the NCAA Championships along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team after Sunday’s round will advance to compete for one additional day of stroke play Monday to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion.

Sattelkau, after a birdie on 7, began to get hot once she made the turn. She birdied the par-4 10th and then found birdies on the par-3 13th and par-4 17th.

The German native closed her day with a bogey on the par-5 18th.

Sattelkau’s teammates, Louise Yu, got off to a rough start Saturday with three bogeys on her first five holes before a birdie on 6. She was 2-over-par through her first nine holes.

Yu would go on to bogey thrice more on her back nine and finish 5-over-par for the day. The senior is 8-over-par through two rounds and sits tied for 81st going into Sunday’s action.

Sattelkau is scheduled to tee off a 9:25 a.m. CT Sunday while Yu will take the course at 2:25 a.m. CT. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
