NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golf landed two Commodores on the All-SEC teams the league office announced Friday.
Celina Sattelkau was honored with a first-team selection while Virginia Green was named to the league’s Community Service Team.
A sophomore, Sattelkau has recorded five top-10 finishes this season and seven times placed inside the top 15. Her 13-under-par during stroke play at the SEC Championships was good enough for third overall.
Sattelkau, from Germany, also took third at the FAU Paradise Invitational in February.
“I could not be more thrilled for Celina,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen said. “In my opinion she may be one of the best stories of the year. She went from not making the lineup last year as a freshman and only playing twice as an individual to first team all-SEC. Her work ethic, her mental toughness and her growth mindset is impressive in everything she does.
“Whether it’s on the golf course or in the classroom, she has a very well thought out and deliberate plan about what it will take for her to perform at her best. And she knows if she’s at her best then we have a better chance to have team success. Celina is all about the team playing well. I’m just so proud of her and I’m glad my fellow SEC coaches recognized the impact she made in our league this year.”
Green, from Fairhope, Alabama, was named to the Community Service Team. The senior has also made the SEC Academic Honor Roll as a junior, sophomore and a freshman during her Vandy career.
