The SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships got under way at the Vanderbilt University Multipurpose Facility on Friday and the meet has already seen its fair share of facility, school and personal records.

Senior Sarah Bell broke the school’s all-time record in the pole vault with a height of 4.25 meters (13′ 11.25″). The vault broke her previous record of 4.20 meters, which she set at the 2016 Music City Invitational. Bell finished sixth overall in the event, earning three points in the team standings for the Commodores along the way. Arkansas’s Tori Weeks won first place in the event with a facility record height of 4.57 meters (15′ 0″). Freshmen Caleigh Lofstead and Margaret Ollinger both recorded top vaults of 4.00 meters (13′ 1.50″) and finished 11th and 16th, respectively. The height marked a new collegiate-best for Ollinger, who previously held a personal record of 3.99 meters, which she set on Feb. 11 at the Music City Challenge.

Senior Courtney Clayton is also poised to score points for Vanderbilt after finishing with the fourth-fastest time in the 800-meter run prelims with a mark of 2:07.60, which qualifies her for the finals section tomorrow.
