2017: Played in and started 19 games as a graduate student forward for the Commodores, posting 14 points on four goals and six assists… Led the team with 14 points, six assists and 29 shots while finishing tied with Jackie Welch for second on the roster with four goals… Played 61 minutes and took a shot in her NCAA Tournament debut in Vandy’s 2-1 win over Ohio St. on November 10… Assisted on Lydia Simmons’ 13th minute goal in the regular season finale, a 2-1 win over Auburn on October 26… Scored a goal and took two shots on goal in the 2-1 loss at Texas A&M on October 22… Had an assist in the 2-0 win at Kentucky on October 5, extending her point streak to three straight games… Notched a goal and two assists in the Dores’ 5-3 win over Missouri on September 29… Assisted on Rebecca Rossett’s game-winning goal in the 81st minute of the 2-1 win at Georgia on September 24… Played a season-high 87 minutes in the SEC opener vs. Arkansas on September 21, a scoreless draw… Took eight shots and two shots on goal in 82 minutes vs. Rhode Island on September 3… Had a goal and an assist in VU’s 3-1 win at UMass on August 27… Scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win at Boston College on August 25.
2016: Redshirted fall season
2015: Two-sport phenom and three-time All-American in the triple jump, Simone led team in scoring for second straight year… Led team in goals (7), assists (4) and points (18)… Named to All-South Region First Team and Second Team All-SEC, marking the third straight year she has been honored by the SEC… Scored four game-winners, including golden goals in overtime victories at Gonzaga and No. 8 South Carolina… Scored game-winning goal in 97th minute on breakway against South Carolina to defeat highest ranked opponent in program history (since NSCAA rankings started in 1996)… Scored twice against Gonzaga for second multi-goal game of career, including game-winner in 93rd minute… Scored twice in SEC Tournament, with goals against Georgia and No. 5 Florida. Both goals put Vanderbilt ahead early… Named Tennessee Sportswriters Association’s Player of the Week (Nov. 11) for efforts in SEC Tournament… Team was 5-1 when she scored… Tallied two assists in regular-season loss to Florida, as she accumulated three assists over two games (Evansville and Florida).
2014: Team’s top scorer and named First Team All-SEC… Also named to All-South Region Second Team… Played in 19 games, making 17 starts… She scored a team-high nine goals and dished out three assists, tying Ashley Oswald and Lydia Simmons for the team-high… Recorded a team-high 21 points… Scored six goals in her final six games, including two in a 2-0 shutout of rival Tennessee… Was named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20 after scoring all three of team’s goals in wins over Mississippi State and Tennessee… Scored seven of team’s nine goals in SEC play… After two years, team’s active leader in goals with 14… Named to Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.
2013: Named to SEC All-Freshman Team … Team’s top returning scorer and points leader after placing second in 2013 with five goals and 15 points… Also had five assists, which tied for team-high… Helped Vandy to its best offensive output in 13 years … Played in the first 17 games of the season, starting 16, before being sidelined with an injury for the final two … Tallied 1,284 minutes … Had an assist and the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Memphis … Scored two goals in SEC play against LSU and Arkansas… Named to SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
TRACK: Three-time All-American, with a pair of First Team All-American honors as a sophomore… Finished on the podium at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships in June after placing third in the triple jump and breaking her own school record with a leap of 44-3.25… Was highest individual finish for VU women’s track athlete since Ryan Tolbert won the national championship in the 400-meter hurdles in 1997… Charley was also named First Team All-American at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March when she placed fourth in the triple jump… Also earned All-SEC honors in the triple jump, finishing third in indoors and fourth at the outdoor meet… Earned All-American Second Team honors after finishing ninth in the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. … Became the first Commodore to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 2010. … Established a new school record in the triple jump at the Sea Ray Relays in April, then went on to break own her record — twice — at the SEC meet and again at the NCAA East Preliminaries, finishing with a mark of 43-1… Previous school record was held by Christina Penn, who is married to Simone’s cousin, Damien Charley, a former VU football player…. Was a member of the 4×200 relay team that set the school record (1:40.24).
HIGH?SCHOOL:Was a four-year starter for coach Robert Starr at Spain Park… Helped the Jaguars win three consecutive state championships… As a sophomore, Charley was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for girls soccer in Alabama. A two-time first-team All-State selection, Charley was named the Birmingham News Female Athlete of the Year in 2012… Led Jaguars in scoring for three straight seasons, accumulating 87 goals and 41 assists.
