AUBURN, Ala. — Vanderbilt sophomore Cherice Robertson sits in seventh place with 3029 points after the opening day of the heptathlon at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hutsell-Rosen Track in Auburn. Sophomore Mallory Hitt is currently in 14th place with 2116 points after the first day of competition.

Robertson turned in her best performance of the day with a victory in the high jump. The Memphis native won the event with a mark of 5’6.5″. Robertson was just a half inch shy of equaling her career best jump.

Robertson opened the heptathlon with a ninth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, recording a time of 14.49. After capturing the high jump, Robertson finished the shot put in 13th place with a mark of 27′ 2 1/4″. Robertson closed out day one with an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters. She finished the distance in 25.32 seconds.

The heptathlon continues tomorrow with the long jump, javelin throw and the 800 meters.
