16 Commodores advance to NCAA East First Round 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt track and field student-athletes earned 19 qualifications for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky, May 27–30, the NCAA announced Thursday. Ten athletes qualified to compete on the track, and six will compete in field events.

Faith Franklin and Josie Donelson will compete in the 400 meters, while program record-holder Jayden Hill joins Kelty Oaster in the 800 meters. Hill shaved more than two and a half seconds off her previous time to reset her school record of 2:00.03 at the SEC Championships.

In the distance events, Lily Kriegel will compete in the 5,000 meters, while Tyla Lumley qualifies for the 10,000 meters. Kriegel and Lumley both qualified for Lexington with personal bests of 15:45.08 and 33:18.15, respectively.

Both Falon and Santana Spearman will represent the Commodores in the 100-meter hurdles, while Falon also competes in the 400-meter hurdles. Joining Falon Spearman in competition will be Mya Georgiadis and Madyson Wilson. Donelson, Franklin, Georgiadis, and Wilson will team up in the 4×400-meter relay.

Four athletes will represent Vanderbilt in the jumping events. Lena Gooden will compete in the triple jump and join SEC heptathlon champion Marta Sivina in the long jump. Gooden, an SEC finalist, reset her school record with a 6.39-meter mark in the long jump. Cali Bryant and Mackenzie Dagrosa will compete in the high jump.

In the throws, Elizabeth Bailey will compete in the javelin, while Sarah Marvin will throw the shot put. Bailey’s throw of 51.38 meters earned her a win at the Hampton Inn River City Relays, while Marvin posted a 15.62-meter mark at the SEC Championships.

The top 12 individual qualifiers and top 12 relays will move on to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, June 10–13, in Eugene, Oregon.
