TEAM NOTES

  • Wake Forest won the coin toss and elected to defer. Bradley Ashmore, Nate Clifton and Jaylen Mahoney represented the Commodores for the coin toss
  • The game entered a two-hour lightning delay in the first quarter.
  • Vanderbilt’s offense surpassed the 400-yard mark for the second consecutive game, finishing with 423 yards Saturday.
  • Attendance at Allegacy Stadium was 28,363.

  • Will Sheppard scored two touchdowns on the day for the Commodores to tally his 18th and 19th career receiving touchdowns to move into sixth in program history.

  • Sheppard finished the day with eight catches for 87 yards. This is the fourth consecutive game, dating back to against Tennessee last season, that Sheppard has at least six catches.
  • AJ Swann threw for a career-high 314 yards and three touchdowns. It’s the most passing yards by a Vandy quarterback since Ken Seals threw for 333 yards against UConn (10/2/21). Making his ninth start Saturday, Swann has now thrown for three or more touchdowns three times.
  • Freshman London Humphreys caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, his first 100-yard receiving game. Humphreys caught his longest reception so far in his career on a 48-yard pass from AJ Swann.
  • Patrick Smith marked the longest rush of his career in the third quarter on a 40-yard gain. Smith finished the game with 77 yards on 10 carries.
  • CJ Taylor forced a fumble at Wake’s goal line in the third quarter, his first career forced fumble. Taylor finished the contest with 10 tackles, including a team-high eight solo tackles, and registered two sacks to double his career sack total.
  • De’Rickey Wright matched Taylor with 10 tackles. Wright recovered the fumble forced by Taylor for his second career fumble recovery. He also has two interceptions to his name this season.
  • Jayden McGowan caught the longest pass of the season on a 50-yard ball from Swann.
  • Savion Riley added nine tackles to pass his previous best of eight which he registered against Hawai’i to open the season.
  • Brothers Kane and Langston Patterson tallied seven tackles each.
