NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s Haley Hopkins was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after lifting the Commodores to a key SEC East victory over the weekend.
The 13th game-winning goal of her career and second this season, Hopkins tallied with a header in the 88th minute after Mya Swinton fed Leila Azari near the end line and Azari’s cross was perfectly placed into the middle of the box to find a waiting Hopkins.
The goal marked the lone tally of the day, helping Vanderbilt take down No. 15 Georgia for the 11th victory over a ranked opponent under head coach Darren Ambrose to date.
You don’t want to give her an opportunity. She’ll take it.

The honor marks Hopkins’ third SEC Offensive Player of the Week nod. The Newport Beach, California, native leads the Commodores this season with three goals across the five games she’s appeared in.
Hopkins and the Dores will head out on the road one more time during the regular season Friday when they visit LSU. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
