Owls Outlast Dores

Vandy hosts Oklahoma State, Belmont on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis dropped the first of three games this weekend, falling 4-1 to Florida Atlantic. The Owls grabbed a doubles victory on Court 2 before Joubert Klopper and Macsen Sisam picked up their fourth straight doubles victory, forcing the completion of the third doubles match. Court 1 saw Siim Troost and Paul Wang compete to the tiebreak set, but they ultimately fell 7-6.

FAU claimed the doubles point.

The Owls continued their momentum, grabbing the first singles point on Court 4.  The Commodores bounced back, however, with Nathan Cox winning two straight sets (6-4, 6-3) to claim a point for Vandy. Florida Atlantic then picked up a third point on Court 3 and the match-clinching point on Court 1, with Klopper falling just shy of the tiebreak.

“We had a tough day, but we have to keep our heads up, keep competing hard and continue to work to get better,” head coach Ian Duvenhage said.
