NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Divine Oladipo, a recent Vanderbilt track and field graduate, will compete at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in the shot put in Birmingham, England, at Alexander Stadium on Tuesday.
The women’s shot put qualifying round, group B, will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 5 a.m. CT. If Oladipo advances to the finals, she will compete on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 2:05 p.m. The medal ceremony is scheduled for 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4.
Oladipo is one of the 93 athletes that will represent Team England at the games. She has the second-best season mark on the team in the event at 17.97 meters.
She competed at the 2022 UK Athletics Championships on June 26 and placed third overall with a mark of 17.20 meters. Before this competition, she competed for Vanderbilt and resurrected the throws program in her single year. Oladipo reset the program record for the indoor and outdoor shot put as well as the all-time mark in the discus. She was also a three-time All-American and All-SEC selection in the indoor and outdoor seasons.
