Vanderbilt Quotes

Melanie Balcomb – Head Coach

On the game in general…
“Rebounding was the issue tonight. If you didn’t see the game all you have to do is look at the box score. Whenever you give up twenty-six offensive rebounds it is going to be a tough game. Particularly when Tiffany (Clarke) had to come out because of foul trouble I knew we were going to have a hard time because she is our best rebounder.”

On whether or not it was a moral victory…
“It most certainly was not. We definitely came here to win and we thought we could win but we didn’t. There are some good and some bad we can take from this game. But it was by no means a moral victory.”

Tiffany Clarke – Forward

On consistently getting into foul trouble…
“I have to just play smarter basketball. Especially when I get frustrated I sometimes can take it out on someone while on the court. More or less my main goal is to control my frustration.

Notre Dame Quotes

Muffet McGraw – Head Coach

On the contribution of Devereaux Peters
“I’m really pleased with our poise. I thought we had a stretch in the second half where Devereaux Peters really made a difference in the game. I thought she was player of the game, and that’s really tough to say because Lindsay Schrader was so outstanding with a double-double, with 18-14. But Devereaux just gave us what we’ve been missing. Four blocks, eight rebounds, seven points in 14 minutes. That’s just amazing. She was able to do that with just a little bit of practice that she’s had. Of course now we’ll expect her to do that every game.”

Melissa Lechlitner – Senior – Guard

On her performance this afternoon…
“The shots were just dropping today. This was a great game for us. We were really excited to have a game that was a little more back and forth and where there was a little more competition. I think a game like this is where I personally excel a little more. When we’re up by 30 or 40 I don’t really need to do that much except throw the ball ahead to Skylar Diggins or Ashley Barlow and let them get some lay-ups in transition. I was just running the offense and saw a few openings and knocked some shots down.”

Lindsay Schrader – Senior – Guard

On setting the school record for double-doubles by a guard…
“I think it’s great. I never dreamed of coming to Notre Dame and breaking that record. It’s like a dream come true. All of the hard work is definitely paying off, but I’m not going to stop here. I’m definitely going to keep rolling with it.”
