No. 17 Georgia slips past Soccer, 1-0

ATHENS, Ga. — The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team dropped its second consecutive 1-0 decision on Sunday against No. 17 Georgia at the UGA Soccer Stadium.

The Bulldogs scored in the 15th minute on a counter attack. Traci Dreesen passed down the right side where Marah Falle chipped a shot over Vanderbilt goalkeeper Rachel Bachtel.

Vanderbilt had a number of chances in the game. In the 56th minute, a Bulldog handball in the 18-yard box gave the Commodores a penalty kick. Katie Dean’s effort hit off the right post of the goal and bounded away.

In the 80th minute, Megan Kinsella dribbled around Georgia’s goalkeeper but her shot was just wide of the goal.

Bachtel made five saves on the day, with the Commodore defense coming up big with a pair of team saves. In the 67th minute, Bridget Lohmuller headed a ball off the line to keep Vanderbilt within a goal.
