TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The fall season is now complete for the Vanderbilt men's tennis team after the Dores dropped out of the ITA South Sectional Championships on Friday.
Senior Danil Panarin was the lone Commodore remaining with hopes of securing a qualifying bid to the NCAA Singles Championship. He fell behind early in Friday's singles round of 16 match, 6-4, to No. 8 seeded Vlado Jankanj of Ole Miss. Panarin fended off his Rebel counterpart 6-3 in the second to force a third frame. Despite the potential momentum spark, Panarin was unable to convert it into a result; he fell 6-3 in the last set, ending his tournament run.
Vanderbilt awaits the spring dual match season, where it will compete as a team for the first time since advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The black and gold are expected to open play in early January.
