NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The The No. 8/9-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team used a record-setting first half to cruise to a 100-42 victory over Queens Wednesday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
The Commodores set the program record for most points scored in any half, as Vandy held a 73-11 lead going into halftime. The Dores used the longest scoring run of the Shea Ralph era to build the 62-point advantage in the first half, as Vanderbilt went on a 34-0 run that spanned between the first and second quarters.
The 62-point lead for the Dores at the end of 20 minutes of play marked the widest scoring margin that Vanderbilt has had in a half in program history. The 73 points over the first two quarters are the second-most scored by an SEC team in any half in this century.
Vanderbilt registered 100 or more points for the second straight game to open the 2026-27 campaign, as the Commodores scored a 112-53 victory over Lipscomb in Monday’s season opener. It marks the first time since the 1994-95 campaign that Vandy has tallied 100 points in back-to-back games.
All-American Mikayla Blakes was once again extremely efficient in another 20-plus-point outing, as she scored a game-high 24 points and shot 52.9 percent from the floor. The Somerset, New Jersey, native added five rebounds, three assists and three steals to her stat line in 23 minutes of action.
Blakes’ 24 points extended her consecutive games streak with 20 or more points to 17 straight games dating back to last season. It is the longest streak among active NCAA Division I players. She also pushes her overall double-digit scoring streak to 55 games, the third-longest active streak in NCAA Division I.
The Dores had five players score double-digit points in Wednesday’s victory. Junior Mia Woolfolk followed Blakes with 16 points to push her double-figure scoring streak to 15 games. The forward shot 77.8 percent from the floor, making seven of her nine shots from the field.
Freshman Olivia Jones registered a career-high 15 points to go along with a team-best four steals in 22 minutes. Sophomore Aubrey Galvan scored 13 points and had a game-high six assists in 21 minutes, and senior Aiyana Mitchell tallied 10 points in 10 minutes off the bench.
For the second consecutive game, all 12 Vanderbilt players who played on Wednesday scored.
The Commodores shot 55.7 percent from the field and made 10 3-point field goals in the victory. Vanderbilt held a 55-18 edge in points off turnovers, as the Dores had 23 steals and forced the Royals into 36 miscues.
Head Coach Shea Ralph on the Win
