NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt bowling’s Katelyn Abigania was named the initial C-USA Bowler of the Month the league office announced on Wednesday.

The sophomore from San Diego posted a 224.9 average in the Commodores’ opening two events of the season, including leading all individuals with a 243.5 mark over six games last weekend to be named to the all-tournament team at Destination Orlando. Abigania posted 200-plus totals in all six traditional games in Orlando, including a pair of scores over 250, accomplishing the feat in nine of 11 games in the month.

Her efforts helped second-ranked Vandy to a pair of top five results including a runner-up finish at the season-opening Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic.

It’s the second time in her career that Abigania has been named the C-USA Bowler of the Month, and the third time since the start of last season that she has made the league’s Performers of the Month team.

Abigania and the Dores return to action Friday when the Bulldog Classic begins
