NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt lacrosse will travel to and compete in Europe in June 2027, the program announced Friday.

The team will visit Paris, Belgium and Amsterdam over nine days, participating in lacrosse competitions with several opponents, including the Belgian National Team.

“I’m so excited for our student-athletes to get this opportunity to combine competition and culture on a global level,” said head coach Beth Hewitt. “Lacrosse is rapidly growing heading into the 2028 Olympics, and to witness the sport’s expansion overseas while strengthening our culture and team-bonding is a perfect opportunity for us.”

The trip comes as women’s lacrosse prepares to make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Women’s and men’s lacrosse will be six-a-side, or “Sixes,” a fast-paced, compact version of the sport. Multi-stage qualification play begins in October 2027; the Belgian National Team will be preparing for qualification, giving the Commodores the chance to face a different style of play from a highly competitive squad.

Off the field, Vanderbilt will visit historic sites such as the Louvre, Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower while in Paris. They will take a panoramic tour of Brussels, Belgium, and explore the Dutch countryside before returning to Nashville.

This will mark the third international trip the program has taken under Hewitt. It traveled to Great Britain and Ireland in 2019 and Czechia and Germany in 2023, competing against international squads on both excursions.

The trip also extends the mission of Anchored for Her, Vanderbilt’s platform to advance women and girls through the transformative power of sport—expanding opportunity, developing future leaders and bringing together people and partners committed to shaping what comes next. The experience will give Vanderbilt women student-athletes unique opportunities for competition, cultural immersion, leadership development and personal growth, putting the promise of Anchored for Her into action.
