NEW YORK – Vanderbilt lacrosse capped its weekend of travel with a trip to Vanderbilt’s New York City campus on Sunday, connecting with Commodores past and present in the Tri-State area.
The team spent Saturday at Sherrerd Field in Princeton, New Jersey, taking on Drexel, Villanova and Princeton as part of their fall exhibition schedule.
Located in Manhattan’s historic Chelsea neighborhood, Vanderbilt’s New York City campus is the university’s first outside of Nashville, paving the way for expansion into San Francisco, California, and West Palm Beach, Florida, in the near future.
In addition to being among the world’s commercial capitals, the Tri-State area has also become a hub for Vanderbilt’s lacrosse program, with 10 current student-athletes hailing from the region.
“Seeing the New York campus come to life in the heart of the city has been really special,” said head coach Beth Hewitt. “It gives our team a better understanding of what Vanderbilt is all about and connects us with our Vanderbilt family.”
The Commodores will wrap up their fall schedule in Washington, D.C., at the Georgetown Play Day on October 25.
