Commodores close out the week with 3-0 sweep over Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. — Vanderbilt earned a 3-0 sweep against Ole Miss (25-16, 25-20, 25-17) Sunday afternoon at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center in Oxford to improve to 11-2. The Commodores posted a .374 hitting percentage and held Ole Miss to just 30 kills on the day.

Reese Animashaun finished with a .500 hitting percentage while Samantha Wunsch and Maddy Bowser both hit over .400 thanks to Avery Scoggins’ 35 assists. Animashaun led the team with 15 kills, while Wunsch earned 11 and Bowser notched six.

Defensively, Vandy held every Ole Miss athlete to single-digit kills. Hailee Mack anchored the back row with 12 digs while Rachel Ogunleye was a force at the net with four blocks to stifle the Rebels to a .148 hitting percentage.

Behind the service line, the Dores earned seven aces, led by Wunsch’s three and Maya Witherspoon’s two. Scoggins and Carly Hendrickson each added an ace of their own.

Vanderbilt returns home to Nashville this week, facing Auburn on Friday and Florida on Sunday in the third week of SEC play.
