NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt alumni and supporters Meredith Perry, BA’06, and Griffin Perry, BA’06, have made a transformative gift to the university to support student scholarships in the College of Arts and Science and Vandy United projects related to the two-time national champion Vanderbilt baseball team.
“Excellence on and off the field is part of the culture that defines Vanderbilt,” Chancellor Daniel Diermeier said. “Meredith and Griffin’s generosity strengthens that culture by investing in our students and in the programs and experiences that challenge them to perform at the highest level. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to Vanderbilt and for all they are helping make possible.”
The Perrys’ gift will establish the Perry and Lewis Family Scholarship at the College of Arts and Science as part of Opportunity Vanderbilt, the university’s nationally renowned financial aid program. Honoring Meredith and Griffin’s respective families, the scholarship will provide need-based aid for undergraduate students in the college from which the Perrys earned their degrees.
The Perrys’ commitment will also further Vandy United’s progress in supporting student-athletes and enhancing the fan experience at Hawkins Field.
“We’re grateful to Meredith and Griffin Perry for generously supporting the bold mission of Vanderbilt Athletics,” Vice Chancellor for Athletics and University Affairs and Athletic Director Candice Storey Lee said. “Coach Corbin transformed Hawkins Field into the embodiment of our ambitions. It’s where our community comes together to watch today’s champions and tomorrow’s leaders. And with the support of remarkable people like the Perrys, Vandy United ensures that the next generation enjoys a home that grows with our aspirations.”
