MIAMI — Three members of the Vanderbilt swimming program picked up individual victories to highlight the Commodores’ performance Friday and Saturday at the Dual-A-Pool-Ooza Invitational.
Aubrey Hull and Sydney Green finished first in their races in the opening of three dual meets in the event against Florida International Friday at the Whitten Center Pool, with Sophie Pham accomplishing the feat Saturday in matchups with both Liberty and Miami (Fla.) at the Doral Aquatic Center.
“We saw a lot of progress from our last meet, I am proud of how we competed,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “That was a lot of racing packed into basically 24 hours. With two weeks until our next meet, it gives us a chance to keep working on some little things and get closer to where we want to be.”
Vandy will next be in action at a two-day tri-meet Nov. 6-7, facing host Queens and Rutgers in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Meet Highlights
-Green earned the Commodores’ first victory of the weekend Friday in their initial individual race against the Panthers, the 1,000 freestyle.
-Hull also claimed a win in that meet after touching the wall first in the 200 backstroke, with Amanda Vu giving the Dores a one-two finish in the event.
-Hull added a second-place result in the 50 freestyle against Florida International.
-Pham highlighted Vandy’s Saturday morning matchup with the Flames after winning the 50 butterfly, returning in the afternoon to claim the 100 butterfly against the Hurricanes.
Notes

-Green has now posted the fastest time on the squad in three different events—the 200, 500 and 1,000 free—this season.
