NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Associated Press released its midseason All-American list on Thursday afternoon with Vanderbilt football’s CJ Heard earning second-team honors at the midway point of the year.

So far this season, Heard leads all SEC safeties in pass breakups (five), forced fumbles (two) and interceptions (one). Heard has the second most tackles among conference safeties with 52, which paces the Commodores.

From Atlanta, Heard has led the Commodores in tackles in four of its six games so far this season. According to Pro Football Focus, Heard’s coverage grade of 85.1 is the second-best among SEC safeties and the 13th best among all FBS safeties (minimum 100 snaps).

Heard and the Commodores visit Kentucky on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
