NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Leading the Commodore offense, Avery averaged 11.83 assists per set to lead the Commodores to a .329 team hitting percentage over wins against Belmont and Lipscomb.
Against Belmont, the New Bern, North Carolina, native recorded 44 assists in a four-set victory while helping Vanderbilt post a .333 attacking percentage. She followed with 27 assists in a straight-set sweep of Lipscomb as the Commodores hit .325 as a team.
Overall in the nonconference schedule, her performance continued a dominant stretch in which Vanderbilt hit .300 or better in eight of its nine matches.
In addition to earning the weekly conference honor, Scoggins surpassed the 2,700-career assist milestone during the week. For the season, she is averaging 11.59 assists per set and continues to pace one of the SEC's most efficient offenses.
The honor is Scoggins' second SEC weekly award of the season. Vanderbilt opens SEC play at Memorial Gym Wednesday against Kentucky at 8 p.m.
