NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has once again named Vanderbilt swimming a Scholar All-America Team, and the organization also recognized a pair of Commodores with both Melissa Cowen and Aubrey Hull earning second-team Scholar All-America honors.
It marks the fourth straight season that Vandy has been designated a Scholar All-America Team following both the fall and spring semesters, as well as the fourth time in as many years that multiple Dores have been honored individually. At least one Commodore has been named a CSCAA Scholar All-American in each of the last seven seasons.
Vandy had 16 members of the program record career-low times in 31 events in 2025-26, with 14 individuals posting a mark that met the CSCAA National Invitational Championship B standard on 28 occasions. Six swimmers recorded 10 times throughout the season that made the Dores’ all-time performer list, with five different teams achieving the feat in four relays as well.
Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, Cowen ended her first season at Vanderbilt ranked among the top 10 in program history in the 50 freestyle along with the 100 and 200 breaststroke. The rising senior—who is majoring in psychology—finished 26th overall to just miss advancing to finals in the 200 breast at the SEC Championships before posting the second-best time on Vandy’s all-time list in the event while placing third in the A Final at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship.
In earning Scholar All-America honors for the second consecutive season, Hull broke her own school records in the 100 and 200 backstroke at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship while also leading the team in the 100 freestyle. The rising junior human & organizational development major from Charlotte, North Carolina, touched the wall third in the A Final of the 100 back and was the winner of the 200 back B Final at that meet.
The pair also contributed to the Commodores’ top 200 freestyle, 200 medley and 400 medley relays that recorded marks making the school’s all-time list, as well as the fastest 400 freestyle relay of the season.
In order to qualify as a Scholar All-America Team, schools must post a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better for the semester, while to earn second-team Scholar All-America recognition individuals are required to record a 3.5 or better GPA and meet the NIC A standard in at least one event.
