NASHVILLE, Tenn – Vanderbilt and Virginia will play a home-and-home football series in 2028 and 2031, both schools announced today. The series will kick off in Nashville during the ’28 season with the Commodores’ trip to Charlottesville scheduled for 2031.

These will be the 22nd and 23rd meetings in the all-time series, with Vandy leading 12-7-2.  The Dores have won 11 of the last 14 meetings dating back to 1953. The series first began in 1895 in a neutral-site matchup in Atlanta. The two teams first met in Nashville during the 1897 campaign but it wasn’t until 1913 that the two squads faced off in Charlottesville.

The Dores kick off the 2026 season with three consecutive home games, starting with Austin Peay on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m., followed by hosting Delaware and NC State on Sept. 12 and Sept. 19, respectively.
