NASHVILLE, Tenn. – All-American guard Tyler Tanner will return to Vanderbilt for his junior season in 2026-27 after withdrawing from the NBA Draft.

Tanner averaged 19.5 points, 5.1 assists and 2.4 steals per game in earning honorable mention All-America honors from the Associated Press and U.S. Basketball Writers Association. He was also named a first team All-SEC selection and SEC All-Defensive team member.

The Brentwood native set Vanderbilt single season records with 184 assists and 86 steals. Tanner became just the second Commodore to score 700 points in a season, joining school record holder Scotty Pippen Jr.

Tanner led the Commodores to the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season and the program’s first win in March Madness since the 2012 season.

Tanner returns as one of the top players in college basketball heading into the 2026-27 season. The Commodores open the season Nov. 2 and will host a trio of marquee nonconference matchups in rival Memphis, Wake Forest and UCF.
